One thing I’m asked from time to time by a good friend of mine is, “How’s your heart?” And it’s a good question to stop and think about. Sometimes my heart is full and trusting and joy-filled. Other times I find it anxious, tired, overwhelmed, bitter, sometimes worried, and stressed. In Proverbs the Bible says, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” What happens in our hearts, in the deepest core of our thinking and emotions, is a BIG deal. In this series we’ll open the Bible to learn from the life of a guy who was called “a man after God’s own heart.” What highs and lows shaped his heart? What kind of a life does a heart like that produce? How can we have hearts that follow after God in this way? These are just some of the questions we’ll explore as we seek to learn together about tending to the deepest parts of who we are.
